Yuki Miyaoka Block
Kelly Duncalfe-Baker and Yuki Miyaoka Block were both born and raised in Saskatoon, and although they wouldn’t meet for over 20 years, their paths were destined to intersect.
Kelly attended St. Joseph High School and danced with La Danse School of Dance. After attending Canada’s Royal Winnipeg Ballet, Alberta Ballet and Sheridan College of Performing Arts, dancing and competing throughout North America, and working with some of Canada’s Top Choreographers’ including David Connolly, Tiffany McLean and Annie Wood she decided to audition to perform professionally. After being cast by Royal Caribbean International, her new career took her to dozens of countries around the world over a period of five wonderful years. She also performed professionally with Haines Magic, Laraf, and Brian Michaels as dancer and illusionist. Although she loved the travel and performing for hundreds of thousands of people, she missed her family, friends, country, and city and decided to return to Saskatoon to pursue her dream of introducing a new found passion to her native city, her passion for the field of fitness. Kelly was a pioneer in that she was among the first to bring Zumba® to Saskatchewan using her years of dance experience. Since, she has traveled all over North America taking certifications and presenting at fitness conferences and conventions. Kelly is now considered one of Canada’s most qualified Fitness Instructors holding advanced and in some cases rare certifications and licenses in various disciplines.
Yuki Miyaoka Block attended Aden Bowman Collegiate and skated with the Saskatoon Figure Skating Club and Skate Canada. After she retired from competitive skating she decided to try her hand at professional skating and was cast by Willy Bietak Productions (creator of the Ice Capades) to perform onboard Royal Caribbean International vessels as an adagio pair skater around the world, which she did continuously for 5 years. She worked with true legends in the field of skating and choreography such as Willy Bietak, Christopher Nolan, Sylvia Froescher, Sara Kawahara, and many of the World’s Top Figure Skaters. She moved in 2011 with her husband to Los Angeles, California where she studied aerial arts with professional aerialists and former Cirque Du Soliel performers. During her time in Los Angeles, she developed a passion for aerial arts and fitness that could only be compared to her passion for figure skating. Subsequently, she traveled to renowned training facilities in Brisbane, Australia, Chiang Mai, Thailand, and all over California to become Internationally Recognized and Certified to teach the various disciplines of aerial arts including lyra (hoop), fabric, and AntiGravity® Aerial Yoga and Fitness in which, she is the only 2 Star Trainer for AntiGravity® in Canada.
Although they shared a hometown, similar ages, and even some mutual friends, they met in Italy for the first time while both performing for Royal Caribbean International. With the shared experience of growing up in Saskatoon as well as similar values and goals, they found friendship immediately.
Kelly and Yuki’s passion for fitness, art, and performance has now come alive in their new joint venture Move N Soar located in Saskatoon’s Market Mall. They offer group and individual fitness instruction for all ages, body types, and fitness levels in the various disciplines of Aerial Arts and AntiGravity® Fitness as well as Zumba®, TRX®, Insanity, PiYo Live, Music Together, and much more!
